Delete your account — Tree Reports

Updated 4 September 2026

This page explains how to request deletion of your account in the Tree Reports app (developer: Gal Vine), and what is actually deleted.

How to request it

  1. Send an email to galvine@gmail.com from the email address of the Google account you signed in with, so that we know the request is yours.
  2. Say in the message whether you want to delete the account only, or the photographs you sent as well.
  3. We will act on it and confirm back within 30 days.

No form is needed, and you do not need to sign in to the app to ask.

What is deleted

What is kept, and why

The tree reports themselves are kept: the location, the time, and the form answers about the tree's condition — but detached from you, with no link to your identity. After deletion the system cannot tell who sent them.

The reason is that the reports are not information about you but about trees in public space, and together they form a multi-year survey handed to the local council. Deleting them would remove trees that other volunteers also mapped.

If you asked for the photographs to go too, the report remains without them — the pin stays on the map, the picture does not.

Additional retention period

System backups are held for 14 days. Data deleted at your request may therefore continue to exist in a backup for up to two more weeks, after which it is removed from there as well. Technical server logs expire on their own.
